The Salida South area consists of a block of BLM land in the foothills south of Salida. There are six BLM motorized routes of various types - sandy, rocky, and dirt. The area is often rideable in winter because it doesn't get much snow.

The BLM motorized routes are easy dirt roads that provide access to the Rainbow Trail to the south at two places - Methodist Mtn Rd (via CR 108) and Sand Gulch Rd (via CR 110). The routes also have interspersed county road sections. The total riding mileage is about xx miles, so all routes can easily be ridden in a day.

The map clip on the right --->  shows the various short sections. Click the map to see a larger jpg version showing the entire area (print for reference).

Click Off-highway Vehicles and then "Salida South" on the lower right to get a pdf map of the area.

DIRECTIONS: From the east end of Salida, drive east on Highway 50 about one mile. After the last business on the right, look for Burmac Road. Turn onto Burmac Road and look to the left for a BLM road splitting off. There should be a sign for BLM road #5672. Turn onto BLM road #5672 and follow according to the map. To access the RBT, turn left onto CR 108, aka Methodist Mtn Road. The other access on BLM road #5668B via Sand Gulch is more difficult to describe, but I will provide a GPS track and small map clip here very soon.

No YouTube videos; check back in the spring.

See Dual Sport Riding in Central Colorado for information about other areas and rides.
